Montessori Education Program for Ages 5–12 months (Nido Class)

I. Introduction to the Nido Environment – A Child’s First Nest (5–12 months) at Tiny Flower Montessori

In the first months of life, a child needs a warm and nurturing place — where every smile and every small movement is received with love and respect.
The Nido Class (The Nest) at Tiny Flower Montessori School is specially designed for infants from 5 to 12 months old — the stage that forms the foundation for physical growth, emotional security, language development, and trust.

At Tiny Flower Montessori, every element is prepared with care and intention:

  • A peaceful space with soft natural light, helping the child feel safe and at home.

  • Beds, mats, mirrors, and Montessori materials arranged at a low level encourage freedom of movement and exploration.

  • Tiny Flower Montessori teachers work with love, patience, and deep understanding of each stage of a child’s development.

II. Areas of Learning in the Montessori Environment

During the Nido stage, children learn through their senses and whole-body movement. Every motion, every touch, and every sound helps build neural connections and fosters cognitive and perceptual development.

Everything in the Nido environment — materials, objects, and actions — is designed to:

  • Awaken a sense of order, movement awareness, and control.

  • Help the child distinguish, compare, and refine sensory impressions.

  • Build willpower, concentration, and independence.

Daily activities are viewed as a child’s first lessons in life, nurturing inner order and natural independence. The key areas include:

  1. Practical Life – Everyday life skills

  2. Sensorial – Development of the senses

  3. Movement & Coordination – Gross and fine motor development

  4. Language – Early communication and expression

  5. Emotional & Social Development – Trust, attachment, and social connection

At Nido, each child is cared for with deep respect, listened to even before they can speak, and gently encouraged toward natural independence.
It is not merely a place of care — it is a nest that nurtures the soul and lays the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
